MONでは、沖縄を拠点に活動する陶芸作家・山本憲卓による個展を開催いたします。
本展では、土と火による表情が引き立つシンプルなうつわと、沖縄の土から生み出される神秘的なオブジェの、二つのシリーズを展示します。
一見すると異なる二つの作風ですが、その根底には共通して、土・火・時間との向き合いがあります。作為だけでは辿り着けない、コントロールしきれない現象を受け入れながら、作品として成立させる強さ。そこに、山本さんの制作の根幹が静かにあらわれています。
土と自然との関係の中で立ち上がる多様な「やちむん」の表情を、ぜひ会場にてご体感ください。
山本憲卓(Noritaka Yamamoto)
1984年三重県生まれ。沖縄県立芸術大学にて陶芸を専攻し、2007年卒業、2008年に同大学研究生修了。大嶺實清氏に師事し、2016年にヤマモト工房を設立。
現在は読谷村に工房を構え、灯油窯での制作と並行しながら、コントロールの難しい登り窯にも取り組む。土に含まれる成分や性質をできる限り生かすことで、その土地の個性を引き出す表現を追求。沖縄の風土から受け取る豊かなインスピレーションを、造形として結実させている。

We are pleased to present a solo exhibition by Noritaka Yamamoto, a ceramic artist based in Okinawa.
This exhibition brings together two series: a collection of simple vessels that gently reveal the natural expressions of clay and fire, alongside a group of quietly enigmatic sculptural works shaped from the soil of Okinawa.
While these two bodies of work may seem different at first glance, they share a common thread—an ongoing dialogue with clay, fire, and time. By embracing the subtle, often unpredictable effects that lie beyond complete control or intention, Yamamoto allows each piece to come into being with a quiet strength. In this approach, the essence of his practice softly emerges.
We invite you to experience the diverse expressions of "Yachimun" (Okinawan pottery) that emerge from the relationship between earth and nature at the exhibition.
Noritaka Yamamoto
Born in Mie Prefecture in 1984. He majored in ceramics at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts, graduating in 2007 and completing his postgraduate research in 2008. After apprenticing under Shinsei Omine, he established Yamamoto Studio in 2016.
Currently based in Yomitan Village, Yamamoto works primarily with a kerosene kiln while also challenging himself with the more unpredictable climbing kiln. By making the most of the inherent properties and components of the clay, he seeks to draw out the unique character of the land. His work embodies the rich inspiration he receives from Okinawa’s natural environment, giving form to its essence through ceramic expression.
